Already as a child I was fascinated with crafting, using natural materials like wood, clay and paper. Much later I discovered my love for dolls. It all began with a childhood wish: a doll house. After that wish had been met, my passion for dolls, miniatures and sculpting awoke. That's when I began to fit the doll house with self-made things. Some time later I came to like reborn dolls made of vinyl. But since the possibilities were exhausted quickly I wanted create my own little beings. I've always been fascinated with fantasy, so I hit on the idea to sculpt fantasy figures. In 2004 I put this wish into practice. I bought some English literature on sculpting since there wasn't anything comparable in German. I had to notice that the correct materials were necessary to achieve proper results, so I bought professional polymer clay made in the USA. Out of this I made some fantasy miniatures. Later I went back to a more natural material: paper mache. I collected my first experiences by reproducing artist dolls. That's how I learned about different painting techniques and obtained basic knowledge of mold making. Soon I sculpted bigger dolls using paper clay. My interest for anime (Japanese animations) and manga (Japanese comics) eventually led me to the world of ball joint dolls. Another new discovery was cold porcelain, an air-drying modeling compound that's especially known in South America. My current favourite material is porcelain. Most of my figures arise spontaneously. They develop during the sculpting process and it often takes months until they are finished. Every time a new face finally looks up at me it's a special moment.
